Description
ATTENTION: The path from Requejo to Padornelo is in poor condition. Apparently, the construction works for the high-speed train have damaged some parts of the path, and there is also a bridge that is difficult to cross. Additionally, the path is 3 km longer than the road and has a very steep incline at the final part. Most pilgrims choose to take the road to Padornelo. If you want to take the path, it is better to ask in Requejo first to see if it is passable.
In this stage, we will climb to the highest point of the path from Seville: El Alto del Padornelo, at 1350 m.
When leaving Requejo, we have two options: to go by the path or by the road.
The road option (recommended for cyclists) has gentler slopes and is 3 km shorter than the path option. However, it is more monotonous, and we miss the beauty of the path.
If we choose the road, we will follow the N-525 to Padornelo (photos 1, 2, and 3). If we choose the path, we will leave Requejo via Calle de la Carrera, which will lead us to the well-marked path. At km 11.3 (photo 4), the path joins the road, right at the entrance to Padornelo.
After Padornelo, we will continue on the N-525 road (photo 5) until we reach km 13.8 (photo 6), where we will need to turn right. We continue on the ZA-106 road until km 14.5 (photo 7), where we leave the road. By the path, we reach the small village of Aciberos (photo 8, km 15.6).
We cross the village of Aciberos and continue on the path. From here to Lubián, we have 3 km of downhill path (photos 9, 10, 11, and 12).
