Description
ATTENTION: We recommend following the "Via Verde" (see green path). It is a new, shorter and more beautiful path. The original is still indicated in yellow but we recommend continuing on "Via Verde" (see map and photos)
We leave Benavente by the road “Carretera de la Estación” (photo 1). At the end of the road there is a right turn (photo 2 km 0.3) which will bring us to the road “Calle de los Tejares”. After a few metres we have to take another sharp turn onto avendida de los Donantes de Sangre which takes us out of Benavente. This avenue converts into the Carretera de Alcubilla (photo 3 and 4) which we follow until the 5.2 km mark (photo 5) where we take a right turn off it. Here we meet a road which climbs 800 metres and then descends directly to the road at the entrance of Villabrazaro (photo 6 km 7.0).
We enter Villabrazaro along calle Real (photo 7 km 7.3). We continue along the road. We cross the creek Ahogaborricos (photo 8, km 8.3) and continue along a small road with little traffic (photo 9 km 8.9 and photo 10 km 11.7).
At 15.9 km mark (photo 11) we arrive at Maire de Castroponce which we cross and continue straight ahead. At the km 17.9 (photo 12) we leave Zamora and enter into the province of León. At 18.5 km (photo 13) we cross the river Órbigo over the roman bridge “La Vizana”. After we cross the bridge we get to the LE-114 highway (photo 14 km 18.9) where we take a left which brings us directly to Alija del Infantado.
