Description
A stage with continuous ups and downs. We enter the province of A Coruña, and in Melide, we meet pilgrims arriving via the Primitivo route.
(1) Palas de Rei - (2) San Xulián do Camiño: 0-3.2 km
We leave Palas de Rei (photo 1), crossing the N-547 road a couple of times until the arrows lead us to the road (photo 2), which we follow up to km 1.1 (photo 3). At this point, we turn right, but after a few meters, we return to the side of the road, only to move away again (photo 4) a few meters later. We continue uphill through a forest until km 1.9 (photo 5), where we turn left. We reach the road but quickly leave it via a downhill path through the forest (photo 6). The path (photos 7, 8, and 9) leads us to San Xulián (photo 10).
(2) San Xulián do Camiño - (3) Casanova: 3.2-5.6 (2.4 km)
We leave San Xulián, passing the 12th-century Romanesque church on our left (photo 11). A small road takes us 1.2 km to Pontecampaña (photo 12) and another 1.2 km to Casanova (photo 13).
(3) Casanova - (4) Leboreiro: 5.6-9 (3.4 km)
On this stretch, we enter the province of A Coruña. We leave Casanova on a small road. At the first intersection (photo 14), if we turn left, in 1.4 km we reach Vilar de Remonde, where there is a hostel. We continue straight along small roads and paths through dense vegetation (photos 15, 16, and 17) until we approach the N-547 road (photo 18), but before reaching the road, we turn left (photo 19) and arrive at the small village of Leboreiro (photo 20).
(4) Leboreiro - (5) Melide: 9-14.9 (5.9 km)
We leave Leboreiro, and the path (photos 21, 22, and 23) takes us near the road and the industrial area of Melide (photos 24 and 25). After passing the industrial area, we move away from the main road and enter a beautiful forest (photo 26), which leads us downhill to the Furelos River, which we cross via a medieval bridge (photo 27). After the river, we enter San Xoan de Furelos, which we leave via a small road that takes us to the N-547, which we follow into Melide.
