Description
We leave behind the first major city of the Camino, Pamplona, to reach the end of the stage at the Navarre-Rioja plains. From Pamplona to Zariquiegui the stage is uphill, but not very steep and on good paths. From Zariquiegui to Alto del Perdón we encounter the toughest climbs of the stage, which will take us to a field of wind turbines and a metal sculpture symbolizing the evolution of the Camino de Santiago. From Alto del Perdón, a steep descent leads us to Uterga. In Obanos, we meet pilgrims who have chosen the Aragonese Way starting from Somport. At the end of the stage, we encounter one of the most beautiful bridges on the Camino, which gives the town its name: Puente de la Reina.
Cyclists: the descent from Alto del Perdón is very rocky and difficult for cyclists. An alternative road route is available, which although longer, is all downhill by road to Uterga.
