Description
A beautiful stage highlighted by two challenging ascents: the climb to Cornatel Castle and the ascent to Las Medulas.
If you wish to avoid the climb to Cornatel Castle, you can follow the road (see orange marked route for cyclists). The road route is 3km shorter and avoids a significant amount of elevation gain. However, it's important to note that this road segment is very dangerous, with very little shoulder.
The stage finishes at Las Medulas, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can take the opportunity to visit this ancient Roman mine.
In Toral de Merayo, you'll come across the first and only supermarket of the stage.
There are dining options available in Toral de Merayo, Villalibre, Priaranza, Santalla, and at the end of the stage in Las Medulas.
