Description

Note: Although the official route passes through Bercianos, a village with no services, we recommend going through Villanueva de las Peras. The path through Villanueva is shorter, and you have the option to get a drink and something to eat. You can also stay at the Albergue Alameda (see the hostel details).

We leave Tábara from the hostel crossing the town until the church of Santa Maria, from where the camino leaves. At 0.9 km (photo 1) we return to the camino of the Step 2.

The road passes along a dirt track which is in good condition (photo 2). At 11.2 km(photo 3) we see a poster for the alternative through Villanueva de las Peras (green alternative) or through Bercianos de Valverde (yellow path).

We continue on the yellow path and we will cross the road that leads to Santa María de Valverde (photo 4) and you will enter Bercianos.

We cross the town of Bercianos de Valverde (photo 5 km 15.3) where there are no services, and we continue through a landscape of thickets and oak trees (photo 6 and 7).

Follow the path until you get back to the highway from which we came and take the right (photo 9 km 21.0) which leads to Santa Croya. We follow the main street.

We leave Santa Croya, crossing the river Tera and following the highway we arrive at the Plaza de Santa Marta where we find the hostel of Santa Marta.
